Independent Project

Class Seven Independent Project: Term One 2022

This is an independent project undertaken entirely at school – unless you are isolating, sick or traveling- and therefore working away from school.

This project will be undertaken over the remainder of term one (28th of March until 13th of April) during Main Lesson time. It is an individual project with no joint projects accepted.

The main emphasis is on individual independent work, demonstrating sustained work habits, ability to source materials, to plan and carry out your ideas, to complete on time, and to hand in with an appropriate bibliography. This is, of course, further preparation for life after class seven, for becoming independent learners.

There are several categories to choose from, to allow as much of your personal interests and skills to shine as possible. Each will have its own set of requirements.

·      Animal, Insect or Bird: This is primarily and writing and drawing research project. The final product must be presented in the shape of the chosen creature- either a poster, or a booklet.

·      Machine: Similar to the animal project – writing and drawing. The shape should be of an element of your machine eg. A wheel or a bolt.

·      An Author or Illustrator: A biography of your chosen person, including a list of their work, illustrations of the characters in their books, and presented as a bound book.

·      A craft item (s): this is for those who would like to undertake a handcraft project. It will require a completed item (s) either sewn, knitted, crocheted. A daily record of progress, including the techniques undertaken, and a bibliography of the source patterns or books utilized.

·      An Automaton or Board Game: This is also a craft type project, in which an automaton or board game will be made. A completed automaton or board game, along with a completed daily record of progress- including any diagrams etc. A bibliography of patterns or books utilized should also be included.

I am also open to being convinced of a project which isn’t included above, but which would be able to fit the above criteria.  Students will need to be able to source their own materials, although we have paper, scissors, glue and paint at school, and the use of the school library.
